Vintage Cabinet Cards

These are photographs that appeared from the early 1860's to as late as the early 1920's. Photographs were mounted on heavy cards measuring 4 ¼” by 6 ½ inches. These cards often included extensive photographer logos and details.

That is so true LadyRoxanne. But I am happy that they are givin to sell and not thrown away. You can learn so much about these people by their photo. A true capture of time.

Amazing how many PHOTOS are for sale at the Antique mall I work at!  It is a bit sad, too, as that means the family members have long "gone on" or do not want the photos!

Yes, I have seen these....on very hard paper and I notice not too many smiles. I have heard that the PHOTO TAKING was such a long extensive ordeal, that by the time the photos were actually taken, sometimes the PEOPLE in them were quite tired.  ?  maybe being silly and laughing was not proper, I am not sure!  :-)
